Run, Sydney, run!

Jennifer Garner to become pregnant spy on 'Alias'
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Jennifer Garner is expecting a baby so her "Alias" character will be too, even though she's a globe-trotting spy.
"We are going to embrace the fact that she's pregnant," ABC programming chief Stephen McPherson said, referring to the character, Sydney Bristow. But the show will focus on making the situation realistic and not "campy," he said.

Asked if he thought the show might lose male viewers who eagerly anticipate seeing Garner in action, McPherson replied that "she'll be able to run a fair amount."

I don't know that "Alias" viewers tune in to see a pregnant woman running, but ... to each his own. That actually probably makes a lot of money on certain Web sites.

Conflicting messages

NicoDerm CQ is holding an auction of yoga mats signed by celebrities. The stars have written notes to help inspire smokers to quit and money from the auction will go to the Campaign for Smoke-Free Kids.
The thing that caught my attention? The message from Richard Simmons: "Never give up!"

Just write the story

At work, I was reading an article on "Hustle & Flow" (which I really want to see) and the reporter wrote it like he's trying to seem hip. These examples are all in text, not in quotes:
"All of 'em pursued their dream to fruition."
"The 'Shaft' Oscar-winner has a small role in the picture, delivering like dynamite."
"... provides the means for DJay to climb out of his life-groove."
"DJay, the rough customer in the center ring of Craig Brewer's arrival film, 'Hustle & Flow...'"

"Arrival film"? What the hell?
The worst part is that it would have been a better article just straight. I'm going through and rewriting parts 'cause it's just so in-your-face street.
And not authentic street either.
Just lame-o "I watched Miami Vice last night" street.
